My buddy has a 2011 Ford F250 that allows him to set the DEF for towing so it doesn't use as much. There is also a setting that, when a trailer is hooked up, tracks the miles towed for each specific trailer. I haven't located such an animal on my 18. Does it exist? Seems like it should if Ford has it from 7 years ago.

My 2013 Tradesman keeps track of several trailers. You can name them boat, RV, and other names. As for def..... The computer & sensors tells the truck how much to use

I know you can name them but will it track the mileage put on each trailer? That would be handy.

In the trailer brake window, shows the brake setting and you can toggle < or > to get the mi;iage for that trailer. You have to switch trailers to get the other milages.

I'd be interested in how this limiting of DEF is handled on the Fords. Since the primary target is NOX, and it has federally mandated limits, does Ford compensate with copious amounts of EGR to scrub the NOX that the scr should be taking care of?

If that's the case, I'd rather just buy more DEF.

Good question. I wonder if that is how Ford programming deals with DEF settings. And if setting low DEF consumption = higher EGT and if that affects engine temperature, engine efficiency, and fuel consumption and if the operator knows what effects a lower DEF setting will cause?

I thought it odd that a mere mortal would be allowed to mess with an exhaust setting.

Here's the words commonly used By Ford Owners " I have a Super Duty " No ,you have a light duty pickup with light duty power plant.. the 6DR110 Trans is the only Strong part of the WHOLE DL. Crawl under Ram 3500 and up and compare the Iron to the F350 UP.

When that 6.7 Scorpion Needs repairs the Blue Oval will suck up your Wallet, Because in many of F-Diesel, the part(s) Blue Oval is the only Dog in town.
