I installed my fuel pressure gauge(elec) about a month ago with geno's hose (a real pos imo) and had problems with it lately running erraticaly... I checked the fuel flow off the bump start and I get about 2 oz only with the 25sec bump start... I don't think the hose is working properly... Any suggestions... go with a different hose(ac type)? The gauge seems to be working alright now but I am not getting much fuel thru the hose...

You don't need much fuel through the hose to run a gauge. I'm running a '98 12 valve so have the mechanical lift pump which pulses bad so I have a needle valve acting as a gauges snubber. I have that valve almost closed off in order to keep the needle steady and it works fine.

I installed the schraeder valve hose from Geno's and it worked fine for a while but started having the same problem - erratic pressures on my SPA gauge. With the digital readout and much finer measure increment - 0. 1 psi - it was really noticeable. It would fluctuate all over the place, from very high to very low.

Long story short, ended up replacing the sender, which worked for a while, then it happened again. Ran a test with a Fluke meter installed in the plumbing to verify the pressure. The pressure sender "started" working again - came to the conslusion that air was building up slowly in the line and causing erratic pressures. Installed a 3-way and needle valve so I can bleed the line and pressure sender. Seems to work fine. Whenever it starts reading erratically, I open the needle valve with the truck shut off, close the valve, start it up, and the erratic pressure readings go away - until the next time.

IMHO, this is a PITA. A friend has the exact same setup except the pressure line is off of a tapped banjo. He hasn't had a problem. Must be that the schraeder valve connection point off of the VP44 must allow air bubbles to slowly accumulate - argues for the FASS, eh?

I 've had my Westach fuel pressure gauge hooked up for 40K miles and has worked flawlessly. I just use the schraeder test hook-up at the VP44 with an A/C charging hose, to the electric sending unit mounted on the inside of the fender wall. The only extra thing I did was to wrap the hose with heat resistant tape.
