I just priced out the Brite Box to allow me too use both high and low beams simultaniously and am looking for a more cost effective alternative. Anybody have any ideas how I could get that done? I have a 2005
One of the reasons for the higher cost is that the box works with the trucks computer. The computer monitors the bulbs and gives you a lamp out if you lose a bulb.
I would make sure that the KC harness jives with the computer. If it does work, let us know. I have the britebox on mine. I also have a buddy who want's the lights, just can't part with the dough.
Bobv has a very low cost option for the brite box. It's not very hard to do, but it's not easy either and it's not reversible, but it works well. I don't know if his membership is up to date, but he's on the northwest bombers. Contact him there.
Not sure if your multifunction switch is the same as my 03, but it was pretty simple to BOMB the switch to make it stay in the halfway back "optical horn" position. (and the best part is it's free)
It's the same mod as BobV's. I first did it almost 3 years ago (not sure how this has HIS name attached to it #ad
) and have done to a few trucks. It's about a 10 or 15 minute job for me now.
A priceless (also free) mod-- Can't imagine NOT having it. The only downside is that if you leave it on, the lights will stay on untill you turn it off or the batteries drain. Not a part of the auto shut off circuit. It thinks you're sitting there holding it.
The reason they cost so much is because its a nice well made unit. I think it took me longer to find the correct size wrench, and drink a six pac then put that thing on.
I have the Brite Box. The best mod you can buy. Safety on dark back roads. For 20 bucks more get the fogzilla to add to your fog lights. When you need the light you will have brights dims and fogs on all at once with no ill effects on the truck's system. You can also run just dims or dims and fogs at your pleasure.
The BIGHAMMER mod does the same thing as the bright box. If you want to spend the money that is fine. We are just saying there is another option that works the SAME as the bright box, high, low and fogs all at the same time. BTW NO power goes through the switch for the lights, it is just an input to the computer. For you PLC guys it is an anolog input, different resistence values for each function.
