Is anyone aware of the aftermarket having the alternator bracket that our trucks are famous for cracking? I've tried a couple of the Mopar aftermarket sites and they don't carry the bracket,or I'm not using the correct terms. If somebody might have the OEM part number, that might be easier to find.

Thanks-Casey

There is a TSB on it. I think the dealer will fix it for free. At least they used to:

2003 TSB's
Alternator mounting bracket cracked.
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 5. 9L 24-valve diesel engine (sales codes ETC, or ETH) and built on or before February 13, 2003, with engine serial numbers prior to 57013271. The problem is that the vehicle operator may experience an accessory drive belt squeal during normal driving conditions. This bulletin describes how to replace the alternator support bracket with a revised bracket.

The stealership will fix it ONLY if the truck is under warranty. I asked nice, pleaded and even told them I wasn't treated this way with my last two Cummins pickups. His come back was" Dodge will kick the request for warranty parts as quick as it was submitted" His own personal opinion is that Dodge is in bigger trouble then their letting on. And tries to look for any reason to get away from warrantying any parts period. He stated it is only going to get worse.

This issue goes back to about June of 2003. At the time, the bracket would have been replaced when it failed. I bought the revised part (cast) for my '03 at that time, part was about $70.

Prices sure have shot up,the DB's now want $150 at our local stealership. I thought about removing it snd welding it. If I can't find one cheap enough, that's what I will have to do.
