Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) alternator brushes, bosch

I got the Bosch Alternator rebuild kit from geno's. Right now all I want to mess with are the brushes as I think they are getting realllllyyy worn, LOL



Is there way to change the brushes WITHOUT removing the alternator from the truck?



I know the brushes/regulator unit is on the back but not sure if you can get the back plastic plate off with the alternator on the truck?
