Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) alternator is creeping/ bending aluminum

noticed that my alternator is traveling slowly... stretching out the hole due to the tensioner and constant load. I am actually out of the socket and near the support bar for the original hole. will post a pic tomorrow.



Has this happened to anyone else?

Please post a picture, the only AL on mine is the ALT. It is a fixed mount with pressed steel upper bracket and a cast lower.

possible bad bearing and too much resistance , also does the tensoiner swing ? it could be binding also .

checked the tensioner, did not seem to have side to side play.

I don't notice any noise from a bearing.
