I have a 2007. 5 Ram 3500 6. 7 4x4 and I just experienced today that when i started my truck and took off i noticed my headlights slightly get dimmer... . immediately i look at my gauge and noticed it when from a little over 14 to some where around 11. 5 . . shortly thereafter the lights got brighter and the gauge returned to normal... . but this problem happened two or three more times before i returned home after only driving about 2-3 miles ... ... ... ... . i was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and what could be the cause ... because i dont want to damage my new batteries i just bought about 3 months ago

Its probably your heater grid cycling now that it is cold out. Not sure if it is cold where you are but that is exactly what happens when the grids turn on.

The temp. last night was probably in the neighborhood of about 45-50F ... and it did it just a min ago on my way to lunch from work and its 50-55F outside now

You should have a look at the owners manual - I believe it explains this "feature".

Imagine all the trucks that go back to the dealer for this "issue"! And imagine how much worse it must have been before they programmed the instrument cluster to hold the voltmeter fixed at ~11v during heater operation!
