Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Alternator question?

Anyone know if a 98' 12 valve alternator will work on a 99' 24 valve engine? Mine bite the dust today and I found a used one for cheap, but don't know if it will work. Anyone know.....

I went to http://www.partsamerica.com/MyVehicles.aspx and checked 98 and 99, the 99 has 136a alt. and 98 has 120a alt, no part numbers match, other than that I can't help. bg
