Archived Alternator quit charging..

my parents left colorado yesterday in their 08 dodge pullin my 18 foot trailer headed for north dakota to pick up an old tractor..... 40,000 miles on truck and the gauges went down and and alternator quit charging... made it to grand island nebraska dodge dealer and they are looking at it now but said they were going to close at noon and they be stranded til monday... . anyone know of a good shop there or what may have happened. i had him check his batt connections said they were tight... . original batteries... . i am suspecting them or the tipm fried... need help please.

so the dealer found a ground loose... . didnt tell him where but they got him out of there... .

yes. he said at first they made him feel like they werent going to be able to help him because it was an hour from closing time and they only had one mechanic on duty... hence the 911 message...
