92-97 Ford/12 Valve swap Questions

e brake help

On a 93 Dodge Cummins alternator there are two small colored wires. A blue and a green. Can anyone tell me which one is "Field" and which one is "S"? (I dont know if the s stands for stator or switch or what?

Rebel. good question! I looked in my '93 FSM, and it's clear as mud!

After pawing thru the electrical section, I found where it shows both small terminals as fields. So both of those are fields. Both are switched power, 1 by the ASD relay, and the other by the PCM. It shouldn't matter which one goes where, but if you wanna be fussy, the upper small terminal should be dark blue, and the lower is dark green.

Thanks for the info Pete. As far as where they go on the alt, Im ok because they are still on there. I guess what I need to know now is if it matters which of the two small wires on my Ford will go too which. I guess what I'll do is finish the rest of my install and then drive it to a reputable auto electric shop and have them set me up.

Just use a test lite, and see when they have power. If the Ford wires have power with the key on, hook them up. Get a dodge regulator from a 89-90 truck, and wire that between the one that's dark green and the keyed ford wire, and run the other (dark blue) to a keyed wire. This should work good for you, and it's simple.

If the ford wires don't cooperate, just run new wires from a keyed source, and hook up like I said.

See? I just saved you some money at a shop! ;) :D
