Does anyone know what the load capacity of the Dodge Aluminum Wheels is/are? And how do they compare to the steel wheels? I'm wondering after the fact if they will carry my camper weight.

Don, I don't have the answer to your questions but I am just guessing that DC has tested the limits on their choice of rims. Unless you are towing a complete house (which is possible with the aid of a cummins) you should be fine. :D

What is the weight of your camper? If you figure a 12-14,000 gross gooser or fifth wheel at 20-25% tongue weight puts 2,500-3,500 lbs of weight in the bed. Of course we all have "a buddy" who excedes that amount. Oo. Oo.

In the mid 80s we were pulling a triple axle trailer with a one ton Ford. The trailer wheels were always breaking around the bolt centers, six lug Chevrolet bolt pattern. After watching several tires and wheels go bouncing across the prairie, we decided we better do something before some innocent got hurt.

The Ansen wheel rep happened by, he said if we bought a set of alloy Ansens, he would replace any broken wheels for the life of the wheel. Needless to say, we jumped on that with a big grin. He was right, three trucks later when I quite, the Ansens were still hauling freight. You could watch them flex when backing and swear they would just explode, but they never broke. I think you and yours will be just fine on alloy wheels.

Be safe, make smoke and have fun!
