Does anyone have a aluminum shell with work toolboxes built in that actually fits the dodge?

I special ordered a tradesman. . they are built right here in California (they also build the work type snugtop aluminum shell which is badged under the snugtop namebrand) anyway it fits like crap and I am about to send it back... but the company told me they cant build them to fit the dodges exactly because of the rounded bodystyle. . anyone have one that fits like it was made for the truck and not something universal?

you spend nearly 3k for something custom. . you expect it to fit. . excuses dont cut it...

If you are talking about an aluminum cap with built-in side boxes, ARE Deluxe Commercial Units are the way to go. The cap I have now was on my 03 and still looks like new on my '06. I replaced the rear two gas struts about 2 months ago. Only problem I have ever had. Fits perfect.

highway product builds the nicest stuff in the US. . they dont fab shells however

I looked at ARE's catalog... but they don't have any closeup pictures of the backend of a dodge with one of their shells on so I can see how it fits around the taillight area...

Also I wonder how it fits the front curvature of the bed. . mine is curved in the front but the space between the leading edge of the shell and the truck cab is only about 3/4 of an inch. . to move it rearward at all would make the bodyline out of whack... and I think the truck will flex more than 3/4 of an inch when just going down the road. .

I know some of the fiberglass shells are real close to the cab,, anyone have info on issues with the shell hitting their cab?

thanks for the responses. . this is an oddball question. .

Ill shoot some pictures today

The ARE unit is straight on the front, but passes through the center line of the front curve of the bed. The rear door seals nice and I have had zero leaks of any kind.

I get tons of compliments on the cap. I had one on my shortbed '99 and both of my longbeds (03 and 06). I run one on my 02 Duramax longbed and had one on my 02 Powerstroke as well.

They will customize the interior boxes any way you wish and will also put a second skin on the inside of the doors to prevent the dents that normally come from tools/materials banging on the doors from the inside when you do a doughnut or a burnout! Just kidding. But if you go ARE, definitely get the interior skins on the doors... ... . I didn't have that on my first one and the little pings drove me bananas!

I'm thinking I spent about 2200 - 2500 dollars for the current cap and that would have been in '03.
