What exactly is 5-Star Service...and where do you get it?

Can I drive on the Garden State parkway with a Dually 3500? I wne to the NJTPA to get info, but it keeps locking up. If I remember, there is something about not being allowed north of exit 105, and of course that is the portion I need to drive.

Good point Brian, no COMMERCIAL vehicles above 105. Campers, RV's... no problem.

Hell, I dont know why they even do that. The busses are allowed to terrorize the whole length of the road.

WEll, I traveled the NJPW from the NY boarder to exit 98... no issues. Oh except for one question. How fast do you need to be going to get pulled over?! I was doing 70 in the 55, 80 in the 65 and I was the slow one. State police all over, but no one gets stopped. Definitleyt different than driving in MA

They used to say with the new 65mph speed limit that it would be a "heavily enforced 70". Well I do know if you get pulled over lets say around 75 you may be able to knock the ticket down to 70 when you get pulled over. That way the ticket "sticks". If you try to complain in court they will say "the officer pulled you over doing 75+ and it was nice of him to lower the ticket for you". Its all about making sure the ticket stands up in court, nothing about safety. I wouldn't venture past 75 unless you know where they are hiding. Here are the Speed Traps in NJ and the www.speedtrap.org homepage. Keep up with traffic and you'll be safe, if you stick out and have out of state plates. Expect to pay for your privilege for driving here.

This is NJ the only state in the union that when and if they bank turns its the wrong way.

NOT FAST ENOUGH!!!!!! :-laf

Ya gotta go faster.

The Turnpike is even faster. It's our own Autobahn.

Well, except the road aint that nice, it costs money to travel, and the turns arent banked, etc.

BTW

Jeff, you mean they dont like speeding in Mass?

I do 80 the whole way through whenever I go visit my parents in Maine.

That's for sure, I go down to May's Landing (20 miles south of Atlantic city) every 3 or 4 months, I cannot believe the way people drive on the GSP, MA is bad but nothing like the GSP. You can be going 75 in bumper to bumper traffic and people will try and pass you and cut you off, or slow down for the tolls and leave a little gap between the car in front of you and someone will wedge right in. I always go the pike to 84 to 684 to the Tapanzee, EZ Pass helps alot too, Tapanzee has the high speed curtains, that can save 20 minutes on the return trip.

Just got back yesterday from a few days in Cape May via the Garden State.

Was in the diesel Jetta doing 80 to 85 (got 43. 3 mpg!) and was staying generally in traffic... passing most but getting passed by some. Made great time except for the tool booths... I got to get an E Z Pass for the next trip.

Jay

EDIT... make that TOLL booths above... none of them said Snap-on or Mac :-laf

These roads are like a mad max film sometimes! The buses are real bad. Not only do they push heavily on the road, they don't want to stop for the EZpass! Most lanes are 15 or 25 MPH (a 3rd or 4th gear roll through) and these people just blast through risking a $$ violation to the account. I'm a frequent flyer between the Lincoln tunnel and 13, to have road supremacy on the straight by newark airport, you must do 90.
