Today while changing out my fuel filter, I noticed a "CLANGING" towards the front of the engine block while it was running. It almost sounds like a bad alternator bearing or a bad water pump bearing but I know those sounds pretty well and it sounds like it is coming from the block. I felt the fuel line to #1 and it felt like it was really pulsing irregularly compared to the general activity level of the others. I know the normal clatter our engines make and this was different. I then took my Smarty out and put the stock program back on. It seemed to make the "CLANG" more regular but it is still there. With all the injector trouble I read about... I'd like to nip this one in the bud. If I took it in to the dealer, would they be able to accurately diagnose an injector that is acting up or do they prefer that we wait for an expensive failure and then we draw swords on who pays? I am easy on the truck and regularly change the fuel filter. Anyway... I don't know what it is... if it is anything but I just do not want a failure out in the boonies or in Mexico next month.
