There was a number of people who ordered the Amalgamated Diesel Fuel Additive about a month ago. I'd love to hear what these people think of that product now that they have been using it for some time.

1. Does the motor run more quietly?

2. Mileage differences?

3. Exhaust differences?

4. Can i still order a 5 gallon pail or has that offer been closed?

Any information would be helpful as after reading about this product seemed to be about the best one out there.

Thank you for any info

I really like it

dsather, I have run Amalgamated for the last 5-6 tanks. I definitely like it and feel it is worth the $$.

1) Yes, my engine is slightly quieter, not that much though

2) I figure I gained about 1/2mpg, it is kinda hard to tell though

3) Marked decrease in smoke, I noticed when it is really hot (over 100) it smokes much less than it did without it.

4) I'm not sure, check them out at http://www.amalgamatedinc.com/

or call 260-489-2549

Another thing I noticed is my rough idle I've had since new has smoothed out quite a bit. Also I noticed I didn't see much benefit for the first tank or two, after that the improvements increased, especially smoke reduction. I think it does a very good job of cleaning injectors and combustion chamber.

I just removed the turbo off my engine and the exhaust ports, turbo and inside my downpipe there was very little soot accumulation.

Would I buy it again? For sure.

Results...

Indication's are I'm getting 0. 5 MPG increase on the interstate. Not much MPG improvement around town. I'll have a better idea when I do road trip to Texas next month.

Ok, thanks for the repies. Seems as though this additive was the only one that came close to fulfilling the requirements. I think I'll give them a call.

Dennis

I am using it and like it. Engine does run quieter and maybe a little

better milage. I didnt bring enough on vacation with me. There is a

lot more smoke without it.

Scott

I'm happy with it too. Better throttle response, engine runs a little quietier, mileage seems a little better. Exhaust is real clean too.

QUESTION

I'm wondering...

how many of you respondants ran a Diesel fuel additive at every fill up PRIOR TO switching to the Amalgamated product?

Not trying to be a PITA, just trying to compare apples to apples regarding smoke, idle smoothness, mileage gains etc.

I have been using a number of high quality Diesel fuel additives since 3k mi. on my Ram (at EVERY fill up), and I'm still looking for the Holy Grail of additives. Is this it?

I have been running the additive for about 4 or 5 tanks now and my mileage has seemed to increase about . 5 mpg, sometimes 1 mpg if I have a lot of highway miles on the tank. Startup smoke is about half of what it was and the engine runs quieter/smoother than before with the powerservice. When I ordered my 5 gal, I asked if this formula would have enough lubrictity enhancement even for when the sulfur in our fuel is all but eliminated in a few years and he replied that it will still be enough after they cut the sulfur way down. That ought to keep our VP-44s happy.

There are a bunch of different formulas on their site. Which one is everyone using, and is it still $85. 00 delivered? Is that regular pricing, or is that a TDR special?

I have a 550 tank in the yard that's pre treated already, but I'd like to try some on my next tankfull. :D This one will last till next year.

The saleman I talked to when I ordered said that he was the one that was involved with getting all the information together for the TDR issue 36. He knew the number of the formula that was tested right off the bat. I don't remember the exact number of the mix, but he will hook you right up. Just mention that you are a TDR member and he will know what you are after. I paid $50 for the 5 gal and $35 for shipping which can vary some depending on where you live.

I tried it in one tank

Larry Crawford gave me some Amalgamated fuel additive to put in my full tank of fuel before I left the campground in Terre Haute. My wife and I both noticed that the engine was definitely quieter (reminded me of my 12V ). It was also smoother and had less black smoke. When I refilled the tank again on the way home, the noise started to slowly reappear. Mileage was hard for me to test because I was towing a new TT that I don't really have a good baseline on. I will be ordering some.

John, before I went to the Amalgamated I ran a quart bottle of Stanadyne Performance Forumula (or is it 1/2 gallon? it was their large container) and I used it 75% of my fillups. I can comfortably say I am more impressed with the Amalgamated. It definitely sounds smoother and quieter than any other additive I've tried.

Hey how 'bout I bring you a quart of it to Diesel Thunder to try out? It takes 2-3 tanks to realize the full benefit.

Vaughn

Bringing this back to the top to see if everyone that has tried it is still enthusiastic.

It seems that most are seeing about 1/2 to 1 mpg improvement, is that still holding true?

Thanks, Ronnie

I can't seem to find the previous post on this additive, whom do we contact and which formula is everyone running?

Thanks

Kev

Is there any independent study data that indicates this stuff is any better than any of the other additives? The only thing I've seen so far is data put out by Amalgamated  I use Rotella DFA and it states it does it all, my engine also sounds smoother on Rotella DFA and I get better mileage. But it only costs me $33. 00 for over 20,000 miles of fuel treatment  Show me the independent data or the cost/benefit

K_Arts,

Funny you should bring this up today. I just mailed my order in for two cans. Here is a copy of the e-mail I was sent on how to order:

We are making the TDR #21665-15 winterized premium diesel fuel additive available in 5-gallon cans at a cost of $50. 00 for the additive plus $40. 00 for shipping and handling (we originally charged $35. 00, but some of the shipping was more). If you want this additive, please send us a check for $90. 00 for each 5-gallon can you want and we will make shipment to you within 3 to 5 business days from our receipt of your check. Make certain you give us a street address for delivery and your telephone number so UPS can find you.

The additive treats at 1:375 (1 gallon per each 375 gallons of diesel fuel or 1 pint per each 47 gallons of fuel).

Send your check to: AMALGAMATED, INC. , P. O. Box 8977, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Best regards,

Gary Pipenger

President

Hope this helps those wanting to order.

Riflesmith,

Thanks for posting that e-mail, I really appreciate it. I've printed it out and am really debating whether to purchase some or not.

I have been running Stanadyne in both of my trucks for over a year now and really like it, but I would like to get something that has a little better cetane rating. So I'm in total debate...
