I've never owned a diesel before. Always thought they'd be problematic. In 2000 I almost purchased a CDT, but the extra $4500 scared me (OK, the loud noise was a factor too). I opted for a new Dodge V10 instead, since it was only $700 more than the 360 V8 and very powerful.

When fuel went up over $2/gal the first time, I spent $80 or more on every fill, and my gas mileage was attrocious... about 8. 5 mpg. That meant I spent $150 - $200 per week on fuel. When the '03 Dodges came out I decided I should make amends and trade up to the Diesel. They were now a lot quieter too.

I've always been a Dodge man, but I must say this is by far the nicest truck I have ever owned. Mileage? Easily over 20 mpg, and that's not just on the freeway; I've had it over 24 mpg out on the stretch. Now by discovering the TDR network, I'm even happier. I've solved a couple of mysteries through the forum already that saved me no doubt more than the subscription price.

I'll never buy another gasoline engine truck.

Congrats on the truck. :)

I share your sentiments. Gassers have never been a favorite of mine anyhow. The Cummins rocks! Even when the ram was still stock, my 6. 9L never could've run with this truck. It just kicks butt. :D

I get a big ol' grin on my face everytime I pull out a stuck 18 wheeler too. :D Oo. Oo.

Yes, I also enjoy it greatly when my buddy asked me to pull his 6. 2L Chevy military blazer out of a tight spot when his axle broke. We hooked up and I let off the break and that was all it took to get him across the field with the one end of his axle diggin into the ground. I didn't have to even touch the throttle the cummins power just took over there is no way my old previous gasser could do such a thing. Now my buddy is looking into a cummins.

I hear the bombing bug buzzing around.

Have enjoyed having mine as well. The noise aint all that bad mine actually got quieter after I started running B100. As far as mileage goes the best I have gotten is around 22. 5mpg with light acceleration and staying below 65mph.

After you drive one of these stinking old smoke machines for a while you can't be satisfied with a gasser ever again. What a terrible spell these old trucks cast on us. (and we love every minute of it). Randy :-laf :-laf :-laf

i cant stand driving a gasser anymore. everytime i drive the wife rig ,i floor it and wait for the turbo to light. then i remember there is no turbo. i love this thing.

I've owned a '79 Ramcharger 360 V8, '85 W350 Dodge 1 ton 360 V8, 2000 B2500 V10 and now an '03 B2500 CD. All of them were 4 WD. I liked the 360 V8's. The power of the V10 was great by comparison, but it used a ton of gas (even when driving calmly). The Diesel??? Nothing compares. I plow with my vehicles and the CD doesn't even rev up with a full blade of wet snow in front of it.

Welcome to the CTD world and the TDR.
