When I bought my 98. 5 3500 dually 2wd work truck, the original owner told me he ordered it with the "extreme duty" or "ambulance duty" front end, and when I go to get any work done on the front end, most mechanics will order parts for a 1 ton dually and end up with the wrong parts. Sure enough, this has happened quite often, even when I tell them the truck supposedly has some extreme duty front end. Is anybody familiar with this and how is it different? Truck has a straight, round front axle, if that helps.

maybe your sticker in your glove box would give some clues to what you have. Most trucks have a dana 60 up front and either a dana 70 or dana 80 out back.

Sounds like it should be a regular cab chassis front end. It should use all the same steering and suspension componets the same model year 4x4 used.

You could run the vin number to see if it shows a special package.

yep cab and chassis front end with the solid front axle, i have been thinking about converting mine to 4wd as it is pretty much a direct swap Oo.
