How are the axles holding up? Any "teething problems" with them?

There have been a few really bad failures (lock-up, breaking lug nuts off wheels, etc. ), due to low, or lack of lubricant right from the assembly plants. I believe the ones with proper lube have been fine. Some slight whinning noises, but probably only noticable due to the quieter engine. (there was a posting where AA declared a whine would not affect longevity).

I've read about one. The owner got a new axle assembly covered by warranty. I thought mine was low on oil but it turns out 1" below the fill hole is ok. I filled mine to the bottom of the fill hole with Valvoline full synthetic GL5-MT1 75w-90 just to make me happy.

How does low oil in the differential break wheel lugs?

That would be pretty terrifying if I had to slam on the brakes and lock 'em up. All four wheels would break off. That must be why I have four wheel anti-lock brakes. To keep the wheels on if I have to hit the brakes hard.

I agree with Steve M, the thought of locking up the brakes and losing the wheels is terrifying. I thought Dodge saved money by making the rear wheel well liners optional so that they could turn around and use the savings to splurge on super strong wheel studs, maybe I was wrong!!!! My goodness the horror! Check your wheel studs and always remember to grease the muffler bearings everytime you fill the tank gentlemen.

Just checked my muffler bearings, and they were DRY I'll have to grease them today while I'm changing the oil in my CB antenna.
