Why do IDI diesels stink so bad?

How to change your oil

Have installed Westech combo, trans temp, dual FP gage for pre and post fuel press, fuel gauge for aux tank. . Had one more hole to fill so now have an ammeter to go into that hole.

I ran one wire from the alternater to the shunt and another wire from the pos post on battery. I get a plus reading on ammeter when alt starts up but do not get a neg reading with eng stopped, key on and lights and heater blower motor on.

Has anyone ever installed an ammeter gauge on these trucks which now have an eletrical load distrigution and computer controled truck in a 99 year truck?

any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

The reason you don't get a negative reading is because the load is taken off of the battery and not from the alternator side of the shunt. The ampmeter needs to have the negative flow to sense.
