Yes I use it year round, it is a wonderful oil. I also only ran it in my dragster, it was turbocharged and on nitrous. The wear was great, in fact it was the best I had ever seen. While I have not seen the insides of my CTD, I have seen them in several Race engines, as well as their turbos. The ones I saw, were very, very clean, and the bearings exhibited great wear as did every part their in. I Highly recommend Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 for the diesel market. And Amsoil 2000 0W30 for gas and race engines.

I do not see any problems with it. I run 100% Amsoil. Atf in the transmission and transfer case. Series 2000 75W-140 in both the front and rear differentials. For the fuel system I use Amsoil's Diesel Fuel Additive, and there Cetane Boost. It helps lubricate the pump and injectors, and the Cetane really helps when pulling a heavy load. Also I use there grease on the chassis for lubrication. On the gas engines we use Series 2000 0W-30. For the Quads it is the synthetics 2-cycle and 4-cycle motorcycle oil along with the Gasoline stabilizer and seizes 2000 octane boost. The 2-cycles really shine with the Amsoil.

Here's what another member said in another post:

Spooled up. why you running 5-30, the mighty Cummins should be using 15W-40!! I just picked up 5 gallons of the 15W-40 ,12 TBN oil for $71 ( helps when a buddy is a dealer for the stuff!!)

Also this:

I ran Amsoil 5W30 in my last Cummins ('01 HO) and my oil sample numbers came back worse than dino oil! Part of the problem was running it when it hit 113 degrees in eastern Washington that summer. It's just too darn thin for that kind of heat. IMO 5w30 isn't a good idea in the South and Western deserts.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an Amsoil dealer myself, but I don't know much about this oil. It may be best to go with someone who has seen the insides of the engine after it's use like Y-knot has.

By the way, I just went out and got my owners manual. It shows the attached chart. I don't think Amsoil makes a 5W-40. What am I supposed to use:confused:

I only go by results..... usually with oil most people never get to see any real results. I was lucky (if you call wasting obscene amounts of money on a race car, lucky?) enough to see the insides of engines that ran on Amsoil. I could look at the bearings, the cylinder wall and see a difference. Also we could measure the difference, by time, and by the reduction of friction. This was measured not only in the time but in temperature. The Amsoil would reduce the friction, there by reducing the heat it caused. We can see that by oil temperature gages. Also when I replaced the ATF in my transmission, I saw an immediate reduction in ATF temps, by 30-35 degrees. The Quads we run, do very well with Amsoil. The 2-strokes really pick up power, you get reduced smoke and better plug life. I am not any kind of a scientist, but I don't real think it takes one to read a gage or look at a time slip.
