amsoil air filter question

I was wondering if any of you amsoil air filter people out there have tried using the K&N filter recharger. I have a kit left over from my old truck and was wondering if I could use the cleaner and oil from K&N.



I do notice that the material appears to be different between the two maufacturers: amoil is like a large sponge and K & N is like a paper filter.

Mike,

I would not use the cleaner from the K&N on the Amsoil air filter. The Amsoil air filter is made of foam material, and is cleaned with hot water and a mild detergent soap, such as dish soap. It should then be allowed to dry completely, and then re-oiled using a hi tack fire resistant oil such is sold by Amsoil. You may get away with using the K&N oil, but make sure you do not over oil the foam!

DO NOT use K&N filter oil or cleaner on anything but K&N filters, and vice versa, they are two different types of filter systems and you are risking serious engine damge if you do. I have seen it happen on a motorcycle. Get the right filter cleaner and oil for the brand you have.
