amsoil air filter EEA189 for tird gen trucks.

1. Does it flow better than stock?

2. Does it flow better than stock when it's dirty compared to a dirty stock filter?

3. Does it filter better than stock?

4. Any problems with this filter?

5. Any other comments?

Tried a search, couldn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks in advance.

I can give you a definite "yes" for no. 1. I put one in and the filter minder doesn't move anymore. The rest of the info can be found on the amsoil website, but of course they tend to blow their own horn, as any company does.

I agree, that's true of any vendor that's why I thought I would post it here to get the end users perspective of things.

I don't wash mine very often as the weather here usually doesn't dirty the filters too bad, usually every bypass filter change or 25k miles. Even at its dirtiest I can hear the turbo whine which I couldn't do with a stock filter.

The air filter I'am referring to is amsoil new one. It is not an oil type. It's a dry type air filter that you use low air pressure 15-20 psi to blow on the clean side to blow the crap out of the dirty side.

Your 99 CTD takes an EaA-106 Air Filter.

I need something to replace my K+N filter that came with the FIPK or whatever K+N call their kit. Please PM me a price shipped to 44130 if this will fit in that system.

If this is a stock replacement, is this better than the aftermarket intake setups? I found the stock box if I have to go back to it. genreral consensus?

Personal preference for me, I had the (still have it if interested pm me) AFE stage 1 kit with the pro guard 7 filter. I did not like this set up as I could pull the filter minder down with every wot, and after I put the pre-filter on it I could pull it into the red. With this filter I also noticed a shudder kind of feeling at wot, like it was being choked down.

I don't hear the turbo whine as much with the filter box as I did with the AFE but the truck feels a lot better when I open her up. After I put my stock filter box back in I installed the Amsoil filter and it works a lot better, of course I did open up the bottom and front of the filter box a bit. I think I drilled six 1-1/2 holes in it. Oo.

I talked to the people at aims oil and they said that they are going to be comming out with cone type filters for poeple that have air intake systems already. So if you have an AFE intake, sounds like this filter that fits your intake system would be the way to go when ever they get them ready.
