I was wondering if anyone has tried the amsoil air filter in the first generation trucks? How does it compare to the k&n for airflow, cleaning and price?

I looked into trying an Amsoil air filter when I bought my K&N but was told they don't make one for our trucks. That was almost 3 years ago so things may have changed.

Works SUPER

I installed mine about 7000 miles ago. I have checked it and it still seemed rather clean. I just rotated it a little so will not always be sucking from the same spot. The instructions did say to modify it a little but I did not need to that. It comes without a plug at both ends. They recommend that you some how plug the end that goes up against the back of the air box. I tested mine and it seemed to seal rather well so I didn't do that. I just make sure that it is secure in there. I forget the exact part number but S1525 rings a bell in my head. I had to call the company directly to get the part number, it wasn't listed anywhere online. I have no complaints about having Amsoil for an air filter. Hope this helps.

I have two of them. Do not wash in parts washer. Just use soapy water. I like to take apart a stock paper filter and use the end plug. I did not do that on my first one and it is harder to take out and clean. I have to remove the whole box to get it back in right. I like them.

Rdodd,

As "NUTTYMOPAR" said the S-1525 is the correct airfilter from amsoil that fits your truck.
