I just recently joined the Turbodiesel Register and I've spent a considerable time reading all of the discussions posted to the TDR Roundtable. Two weeks ago I bought my first diesel pickup which happens to be a Dodge Cummins. It's great to be able to be able to read and to discuss with others all of the aspects of ownership.

I do have some comments about the Amsoil air filter. I've been an Amsoil dealer for 25 years and during that time I have used the original foam filter and the two stage foam filter on a variety of cars and pickups. The only complaint that I have, and I've addressed this with Amsoil, is the foam filter oil that they use in the filters. The oil does not stand up to the Texas heat even when oiled to factory specs. In all of the vehicles that I've installed the filter in, the oil has leaked from the filter. This has been very evident by the amount of oil in the bottom of the filter boxes and also on the valve cover and engine of some of the vehicles including the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5. 2 V8 that I previously owned. On a 1989 Ford Crown Victoria, V8, evidence of the oil (excessive amount) was found inside the air intake. I can only assume that the oil made it to the air sensor and possible clogged it. I think all of the Amsoil products that I've used are great - I just wished the oil in the air filter would stay put. Thanks everyone for all the info!
