Has anyone used the Amsoil ATF in their 48RE and could you tell a difference in the performance? I don't want to get an Amsoil war started, just want some feedback from those who have actually used it.

I have been running Amsoil ATF for about 50,000 miles works just fine as far as any difference can't tell it's not cheep but neither is ATF+4

I ran the amsoil atf severe gear for the last 15,000 miles. I just upgraded my transmission (valve body and torque converter) at around 37,000 miles there were no signs of any problems in the transmission pan when it was pulled according to the transmission builder,he stated it was very clean :) . coobie

Maybe this is more than you wanted to know, but I will throw it out there anyway. Your truck has factory transmission warranty until 70k miles. In order to keep that in force you need to demonstrate that you have done the transmission service every 25k miles(I think that is the interval??). I had a transmission go on my '03 at 67k miles and they asked to see proof of service on it. I had not run Amsoil because I couldn't run the extended intervals that is the big benefit of running it for me. I will switch my '06 sooner because it will be out of warranty at 36k.

Also, my mechanic that has done the flushes on all my trucks used cheaper Havoline and an additive OK'ed by the dealer. Now I did lose a transmission, however the cause was a failed fan clutch switch that caused an overheat. I don't think I can blame it on the fluid. My dually is at nearly 100k miles, same service by the same guy and it pulls heavier loads than the '03 QC srw did. No problems on that one at all. I now have a transmission temp gauge becuase the light never came on when the one trans failed. So, I would decide what you want from the expensive fluid. Doesn't sound like it is anything but piece of mind, especially if you need to be careful about the service interval.

Now I do run Amsoil in the diffs, t-case and engine, I definately like the stuff!

I put Amsoil in my '99 and ran it to 280000 K with no problems. I had the trani pulled and checked at 120000 kbecause I was going on an extended trip with my trailer and didn't want to get half-way there. The trani was spotless and I upgraded it while I had It out. As well, in the North where I live, its nice in below zero weather not to drive away with stiff components. The Amsoil stays liquid and keeps on lubricating in cold temps. I plan to switch all the fluids in my '06 mega to Amsiol before this fall.

just changed mine out after 30k looked clean, smelled good. this is with ats vb and tc 500+hp and towing heavy, hot rodding around town... ... good stuff!!

I have been running it in my built trans for about 2 months now. Over 600 hp and flat mean to it. You may not see a performance difference so to speak, but the difference is nothing short of amazing. The big thing is the lack of varnish it causes. Anyone who has changed the transmission fluid after it was turning black knows about this. Second, the heat stability it has. This stuff stands up to SO MUCH more heat than conventional fluid WITHOUT breaking down. Bottom line, it lasts longer under harsher conditions. Now, I normally still recommend servicing based on the manufacturers table not because of the oil but the filter. You will still have clutch material and possibly dust in your system and being filtered out. So, you change the filter every 25-30K miles and refill and drive. No need for full flushes or anything because the oil thats in there will still be in good condition due to the design of the fluid. Any doubts? Take an oil sample when ever you do your filter change and send it in. You just may be really impressed!
