I'm installing an Amsoil single bypass filter on my '98. 5 ISB and have run into a snag and need some advice. I am installing the filter on a custom bracket I made to the inside of the passenger side battery. The problem is hooking up the feed line to the stock oil filter head. The heater hose hard line runs right over the top of the filter head (about an inch and a half above). I'm trying to plumb into the open test port on the top of the filter head. To keep stress off of the lines and fittings I need the hose to attach vertically to that port and the heater hose is in the way. I tried to put in two 90 degree elbows to move it a little towards the passenger side but if I put the elbows together before installing I can't tighten it down because the turbo feed line is in the way (it looks like there is a boss that sticks up higher where the turbo feed line is that would get in the way even if I removed it but I may be wrong). If I install just the one 90 degree first there isn't enough clearance to install the second one. So how have you guys hooked up to that line? I was going to install it horizontaly but there would have been WAY too much stress on the fittings. I'm probably missing something extremely simple but it's been a LONG LONG day. I installed a fuel pressure gauge with dual senders (before and after filter) and found out that my lift pump is dead (7 psi at idle - 0 psi driving down the road)!! Then the bypass filter problem - aaarrggghhhh!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
