Amsoil changes

I am considering switching to Amsoil in my 95 that is currently running shell rotella 15-40 with 112,000 miles. My questions: How soon should the (first) change be, i drive about 8 miles one way to work all highway and don't do much towing. How often should it be changed after that? How often should my stock filter be changed and which one should i use? Finally, exactly which type of amsoil should i use, i recently signed up as a dealer but there seems to be more than one amsoil diesel type. Sorry for all the questions but with the cost of the oil i want to get it right the first time. #ad

2shus: In my '96, I use the Amsoil Heavy Duty 15-40 synthetic from April through Nov. then switch to Shell Rotella 10-30 for the cold winter. On the synthetic, I still change it every 4000 miles or so. That's probably overkill, but I want to keep the engine clean inside.

This is a picture of my engine after 129,000 miles of using the Amsoil Synthetic. The engine has had only one oil drain, and that was at 105,000 only to install a lighter 5W-30 oil(Amsoil Series 3000). I think this is proof this oil will keep the engine clean!

I've currently got 12,000 miles on my Amsoil 15-40, just recieved the results on the oil sample - recommendation: Keep on trucking! The last time I changed it, I had 18,000 miles and the lab results were the same. Now, I'm just changing oil filter every 5K, bypass filter once a year and topping off as needed.

Got to the products forum. There are 3-4 topics about amsoil. Several discuss pro's and con's. There is also one I posted which has lots of info on drain intervals, and also one showing lots of bypass kit installs.

All within last 5 days.
