Installed Jacobs e-brake

Break an Input Shaft with an E-Brake??

If anyone has closely examined a Amsoil dual by-pass system it is designed to flood the by-pass filter with oil and restrict the full flow filter. What I am wondering is if you swap the restiction or remove it all together do you think it will still be somewhat effective? I dont want to lose oil pressure during racing/dyno runs etc. but I would like a little better filtration due to hard use. I think you will get somewhat better filtration albeit at a much smaller rate then the normal set up.

Opinions please

Thanks

Nathan

I believe the Amsoil Dual Remote Bypass filtration system only allows a maximum of 10% of the oil to go through the bypass at any one time... and even at that it has to be over a certain minimum volume or pressure first.

I'm not so sure I agree with ya John because if you look at the mounting plate for the dual system the oil enters the block and comes to the bypass filter first with no restrictions. It then goes down to the full flow filter where there is a spring loaded cap with a plug, that is drilled out, before it gets to the full flow. The exits out of this "chamber" are as big or bigger for the bypass filter as they are for the full flow. Unless the bypass filter can only except a small volume of oil compared to the full flow then it has to be getting more oil and potentially reducing oil pressure under heavy use.

No, the unit is NOT designed to restrict the "full flow' filter. Amsoil has designed this unit so that it will only allow approximately 10 percent of the oil flow to the by-pass element, as John mentioned.

I would not "modify" or change anything, as they have put alot of time and money into the design of this unit. You may find by modifying it, you may make matters worse.

The newer mounts don't even have the spring and ball valve in them anymore, and they now only have a small oriface to take its place.

Thank You Wayne...

... I thought I was losing my mind for a minute.
