I just tried to install a dual bypass filter on my 02 3500. But when it came time to install the filter adapter in place of the stock filter the adapter will not screw on. The Ea080 filter that came with the kit fits on the stock location but the adapter won't screw on . It act like the threads are not the same size. I need to fix thjis as soon as possible or I will have to waist a filter so the truck will be drivable. #@$%! Help

I just looked on the amsoil site and the eao80 is a filter is a replacement for the oem filter your truck and not on there bypass sys.

If I remember right the threads on on the bypass (bmk-12)???are different than the oem.

I think you got the wrong filter.

As I have been trying to get a cap for the oil return on a bmk-11 and ended up each time with a bmk 11 mount. I now have three and gave up on amsoil.

it you was smart go with a franz.

The Amsoil site has a TA telephone number listed. (715) 399-TECH. I've had pretty good luck with them. They should be able to tell you exactly what the problem is. You've got the wrong filter. I have that system on my '95, and the OEM filter number is different than the filter used for the bypass system. Mine is an EAO26, and the OEM filter is a EAO80. My truck had this system when I purchased the truck. I'm seriously considering removing the bypass system. My biggest concern with the system is that it adds new lines and connections that are potential oil leak/burst points. With the Amsoil OEM filter and their synthetic oil you can go 15k-25k miles between oil changes. That's as long as I'd feel comfortable with going anyway. Just using any good quality oil and filter, and changing it at regular intervals seems to make these diesel motors last for several hundred miles. The motor with the stock lubrication system will be there long after the rest of the vehicle has crumbled into a rusted pile of scrap.

You might what to try PMing TDR member CPFF (John and Virginia Strenkowski). They are my Amsoil dealers and John is a machinist who makes an adapter that is much better than the stock one. In fact, I believe he gave Amsoil the blueprints and they now offer it, too. There is nothing he doesn't know about those things. I have his adapter on my truck and no problems. He's the resident expert on them. If you'd like, PM me and I'll get you his phone number.

I've had my bypass system installed and in place for about 240K miles (about 9 years). I've never had a problem with the hoses. That might be because I looked to see where the probable friction points were and wrapped heavy-duty rubber hose (such as is found on filler-tube connections between the bed and the tank, at least on gassers) around the oil hoses.

If the hose/fitting joints are well made and friction points are protected, one should never have leakage problems due to hose failure. At least not until after the truck is scrapped. :) The original adapter I have did leak some at the OEM filter mount location, but after applying a lot of torque to it, it hasn't leaked since. The filters do leak a little at the dual-mount unit, but this is *far* less leakage than the rest of the engine exhibits.

(At first read I thought you might've suffered a brain fart, but upon re-reading, I found you did state the problem quite clearly. )

It is possible you received the wrong thread adapter with your kit. Call Amsoil; they will solve your problem.
