OFF-Brand fueling ?

Questions for those with the Amsoil dual remote bypass filters installed on a CPFF battery bracket. I installed mine yesterday and the filter head of the dual remote interferes with the turbo air inlet hose. So much so that a hole in it is imminent. I've tried repositioning the hose to no avail.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is anyone using an air filter setup other than stock that cures this problem? If so, which filter/box? I've looked at the Volant and the aFe Mega Cannon but can not tell if either will resolve the interference.

Any help, especially pictures is much needed and will be very appreciated.

I've got my dual bypass mounted down under the radiator. I didn't like all the drawbacs of mounting it on the battery, one of which you've encountered.

My Amsoil upline dealer had his installed with some heavy plastic cushioning between the corner of the mount, and the turbo hose. Of course, it did shove the hose in a little bit. I know that doesn't help, sorry. If you have a friend who is an excellent welder, you might be able to get him to cut and re-weld the bracket so that it moves the filter mount farther away from the battery.

Try this!

Try loosening the hose at the turbo and turn it clockwise. It worked for me but then I have the 0880 filter. I also welded my own bracket but it is centered so that shouldn't matter.

Take a look at http://home.adelphia.net/~npmrphy/amsoil/amsoil.html

I designed this bracket myself; had a local shop fabricate it. After 40K miles, it is holding up quite nicely. When I replaced the batteries, I took it out to check how it's faring. The only problem is that I made it perhaps 3/8" too tall. It's a little snug under the hood.

MAV1 I've had the same set up (CPFF's) for over a year, it touches as well, no problems yet and don't forsee any, remember it is rubber and thick at that.

Yes, it's a tight fit. Twisting the turbo hose (after loosening clamp) as suggested above is the first thing I would try. I've also got a "sacrificial" piece of foam rubber between the hose and the edge of the filter block. I'm considering using a file to round the edge of the block for even more extra assurance.

If none of this works, an AH-1141 air filter could be used to replace your air box. (See signature) My box was replaced for other reasons; with care I think you should be able to make this work with your stock box.

TTT Need help again!!!!!

Somewhere on the TDR website, I found a link that had pictures of CPFF's billet adaptor with a 120 degree fitting at the bottom instead of the 90 degree fitting as supplied by CPFF with the adaptor. I need to locate the link again so that I can obtain the 120 as I believe it will cure the oil pressure drop I have experienced. In regard to my original post, I spoke with John on the phone today and he has updated his battery mount so that where the dual filter filter block bolts to the bracket, the block can be adjusted forward or whatever for clearance from the turbo air inlet hose.

Thanks in advance,

Maverick

I installed a system on a customers truck using John's battery box with no problem. It just did touch the hose but will never rub through. I installed mine under the radiator but that was before John had the box. Mine is mounted vertical. I saw one the other day installed horizontial. I would not want to change those filters.

John's system is a very well made product. I keep an extra one at the shop.

I rounded off the offending corner of the block with my dremel, rotated the turbo hose clockwise and used the smaller marine version of the BHAF; Fleetguard AH19002.

I had mine mounted on my right frame rail no problems yet 4 years and counting a place in wis called huckstrof diesel did the work for me. :)

Mav1:

I have had my dual remote on for 120k and the hose also touches right on the corner. I have always meant to grind that corner down so that it is not sharp. I take the hose off my afe setup and loosen the turbo hose clamp and swing it out of the way when I change oil filters to make access a bit easier so I see the part of the hose that hits that corner everytime I change oil filters and there is barely even a mark on my hose after 120k.

I have a Scotty II and my hose touches a bit also. . like Barry's mine has been on for over 100K and no issues yet with a hole. . soon installing my Odyssey 2150 battery on driver side and doing away with 2 batteries

Mounting Location Dual Remote

I mounted mine like Briar did his , & had a friend that's been welding for 30 plus year fab & paint a guard from 3/8 steel with gussets on the back side to keep it from collapsing in case of impact with suicidal road critters. This also makes it very easy for oil samples & servicing. :)

Missing the boat

Hey guys, you are missing the boat here. I'm not worried or concerned about the turbo inlet pipe. I need a 120 degree fitting on the bottom of CPFFs' billett adaptor. I was searching on the TDR and discovered a link that had a picture of CPFFs' adaptor with a 120 instead of the 90. I believe it will resolve the oil pressure drop I experienced with the 90 as supplied from CPFF. I can't find the link again and thought someone could help.

Thanks,

Cal
