Not trying to start trouble, just telling it like it is.
I've been an Amsoil dealer since the 70's and used it off and on in different vehicles I have owned.
When I bought my truck in 96 I wanted only the best and installed the amosoil double filter bypass system. For 9 years I have put up with the expense and the mess. I tried everything to seal the Amsoil hose's and adapters to the adapter plate and it always weeped. Maybe I should be gratefull that my frame couldn't rust hehehehehe. My truck has always used about 1 quart per 800 miles and I finally just started runing it a quart low because even running at 2100 RPM it would just blow it off.
So now with some emission issues worrying me I decided to just throw in 3 gallons of fresh Rotella 15-40 and a cummins filter and call it good. Even stopped at the car wash and squirted everything down.
I can't believe how much room those two filters took up under my hood.
Whooo Hoooo No more oil mess on the floor and bottom of my truck.
I just feel that even though Amsoil is one of the best products out there. There are several others just as good. I am no longer interested in a four ball wear test and having internal engine parts looking like new and still in factory spec while the rest of the truck has rusted to dust.
To me it was just not worth the 9 years of expense and mess. Lots of our trucks make it to 300K miles without it. After that I would be ready for a new truck anyway. I am half way there and feel ready now.
But I guess I am good for another year until emissions.
Also pitched the Amsoil Air filter mess. Foam oiled filter and have to use your own screen from an old unit to give it shape. That was one big ugly mess to clean and reoil. I think replacing the stock paper one every other oil change will be much easier too
