Has anyone had experience changing back to conventional oil after using Amsoil. I purchased this 02 truck with 50,000 miles on it. The previous owner used Amsoil. My 96 is working just fine with over 250,000 on the odometer. The oil and filter in the 96 was changed every 5,000 miles. Thanks

You might run into a problem of having your seals leak if you switch back to a conventional oil after running synthetic.

I heard the same thing from a mopar mechanic [my cousin] He said that a customer of his did that & got a leak @ the front seal.

Actually the reverse is usually true.

The PAO base stock of conventional (dino) oil causes seals and gaskets to swell.

The ester based synthetic oils sometimes causes leaks by shrinking various seals.

I thought I needed two new rear main seals on the Cummins and the 4. 0 Jeep. They both started leaking at the same time.

I mixed in some Delo 400 into the Amsoil. Fixed e'm both.
