Amsoil questions

I'm considering switching all my fluids over to Amsoil, but I'm looking for some clarification on which products to use.

1. Is the series 3000 5w30 engine oil worth the extra expense over the regular diesel 10w40?

2. Which gear oil would be beter for my dana 70 rear, Regular or series 2000? What weight 75w-90, 80w-90, or 75w-140?

3. Finally, how do you switch over to synthetic ATF. It seems like even if you drain the pan, there is still a considerable amount left in the valve body and torque convertor?

If it matters, I don't do much towing, and my trip to work each day is very short(~2mi)

1. I would use 15w-40 for your application.

2. I almost always go with the Series 2000 75w-90.

3. Couple different ways to do ATF, I can e-mail you detailed instructions.

I'm currently running the 5w-30. I can't say that its been worth the extra cash. BUT... winter is a comin... so maybe I'll feel differently come spring.

Terry I started useing Amsoil 15w-40 about 2500 miles ago and personnely I prefer Mopar oil. The amsoil is not what it is made out to be.

I'm a fan of synthetics, but when I ask this question, I promise to just listen to the answer; we don't need another thread of "pro-syn vs. anti-syn flaming! My question is, I'm curious what you mean when you say Amsoil is not what it is made out to be? Even though I have not been able to "measure" or "hear" or "feel" the difference, as a skeptic I never really expected those things. The difference between the "best" oils and the "really good" oils is there, but I didn't expect my engine to sound different or expect to gain 7% in mileage. Is that what you mean, or did you have a really bad experience?
