I used the boat this last week on our camping trip after I changed the outdrive oil. I'd been using the Johnson Hi-Vis which I believe is a 80W-90 dino gear oil. I changed it using the Amsoil 75/80W-90 synthetic marine gear oil because it actually cost less than the Johnson Hi-Vis and I'd heard good things about Amsoil. I've also started using synthetic in everything else I own, so I though why not the boat ...
In the past, the outdrive would chatter like crazy no matter how quickly I went from neutral to drive. With the Amsoil, it just shifted so smoothly, even if I didn't shift it that quick. It felt buttery smooth... :-laf
The outdrive is a 1993/94 OMC Cobra.
I'm thinking this is due to the gear oil change...
