Which oil are you all using for the motor?? 15w-40 HDD&M or the series 3000 5w-30 HDD?

Which oils are you using for the diffs, transmission, TC? If it isn't a problem I also need oil capacities of the diffs, TC, and transmission(5600) as my manual doesn't tell me and I haven't found anything after a search.

Gonna switch it all over soon. Just got my Bypass filter installed. How much more filtering does the Bypass filter do over a standard filter? I have all my Amsoil dealer info but can't find answers to this question.

funny you should ask, i just changed the engine over to the 15-40 marine on wednesday night. i have no plans to change other fluids till around 30,000 miles. i am using the standard fleetgard stratapore filter.

i swear that within 5 seconds of starting the engine with the new oil, it was mechanically quieter. not the diesel cackel (which i love) but lifters, gears and whatever else makes noise. i had 2 other people confirm today that they also thought it was mechanically quieter. might be my imagination but thats where it's at.

I love the Amsoil product line, I use the 3000 in the Dodge, and the 2000 in everything else, even the lawn mower, it's all good stuff. I can't see why anyone running synthetic would run anything but the best, Oh well it takes all kinds I suppose? For the trany it's the ATF and 2000 gear oil in the differentials, transfer case get the AFT as well. I also like the fuel conditioners and grease. In the ATV we use only Amsoil as well, great stuff.

It's real nice when you spend the 30 bucks and then can order it all at dealer price.

Is there a FAQ on how much oil the transmission(6 speed), TC, and diffs hold? If there is I can't find it.

You can go to Amsoil.com and on the home page we've an "Online Product Application Guide" Enter the year and what vehicle, and there'll be capacities and product recomendations.

Engine 12qts w/filter 15w-40, 5w-40, 5w-30

NV5600 9. 5pts 3000 5w-30

Transfer Case 4pts ATF

Differentials (depending on diff) 75-90

I have used both oils you mentioned, and am now using the HDD & M 15W-40 in the engine.

In the differentials, I am using the series 2000 75W-90.

Front diff. will need 4. 75 PTS.

Rear Diff. will need 7. 65 PTS.

In the XFR. Case I am using the ATF

XFR. Case will need 4. 6 PTS. (NV241 HD)

XFR. Case will need 3. 4 PTS. (NV241 II)

In the NV-5600 I am using the 5W-30 HDD

Capacity is 9. 5 PTS.

Question regarding the by-pass filter? Filters down to 1/2 Micron, and at 3 Micron it is 98. 6 % efficient. Most OEM "Full Flow" filters are in the 30-40 Micron range.

Hope this helps.

I will go with the HDD 5-30 when the time comes, but I got the new Amsoil Severe Gear that just came out for the diffs. .

I use the 5-30HDD in the engine w/duall remote filters. Oil sample at every 10,000 mi. All samples come back as being positive for further use. So far I have 30,000 miles on the same oil with just whatever makeup oil is needed at filter change.
