 i would like to switch over my front and rear diffs to amsoil, but im not sure what grade. also i would like to switch my transfer case also. any help would be great.

Transfer case requires ATF. I'm using Amsoil series 2000 75W-90 in the rear dif. , but only for the last week so I can't say much at this point.

75W90 Does very well

I have ran the 75W90 the last 160K miles (198K on the truck). Changed and oil tested the rear diff three times since and changed the front once. The front would not have a need for 75W140 and in cooler climates it is still "thicker" then 75W90 which will reduce any gain over straight 90wt.

I am staying with the 75W90 for the rear as I have pulled extreme loads for 700 miles trips once a month or so and the oil tests come back after 40K with very low wear metals, very low TAN or bottom line... . oil is more the adequate for the job. This is in a 96 5sp Dana 80 LSD. I do add the Mopar LSD fluid each change.

:D I switched the rear diff to Amsoil Series 2000 75-90 when I put on the Mag-Hytek. At the same time, transfer case was switched to Amsoil Universal ATF.

Amsoil series 2000 has friction modifier added. whether you need to add addition friction modifier depends on your rear diff. Myself and others have not needed to add additional modifier, but yet others have. This has been discussed before and I think it has to do with how loose or tight your rear diff clutch pacs are. If you need to add modifier I hear the Mopar stuff is the best.

PS: before adding modifier to the new rear diff fluid find an empty parking lot and do several tight figure 8's to work the fluid into the clutch paks. If your diff has a popping sound after doing the figure 8's several times, additional modifier is needed. Just add a little modifer at a time and repeat the figure 8's until the popping is gone.
