Today got my BHAF shield and filter mounted made by Jason Boesl , Great job Jason. I am a freak for gauges, so thought I would put in a vacuum gauge on the air filter. This does the same job as the stock filterminder, but with a gauge on the dash, you have a constant reading how much vacuum is being created. After it was all done I hit the highway and at 38 lbs of boost, the air cleaner gauge didn't even think about moving. Wasn't too surprised, but the more I thought about it, I got to wondering just how efficent these BHAF air cleaners are. Experiment! I blocked off a little more than 50 percent of the air cleaner and hit the road again. Now we're getting some where! I could actualy see the needle move at max boost! Of course it wouldn't get up to 1 in. of vacuum though. So it seems to me, for my truck, the BHAF is capable of delivering twice as much air as required. Of course it is new and will only get more restricted as it gets dirty. The only thing I have to compare this to, is my big truck. A new word here, Insane Big Honkin Air Filter, and two of them. They are over two feet tall and twice the diameter of our little ones. So the big truck will pull 10 inHG on a hard pull at 35 lbs. of boost. When it gets to 20 inHG, its time to change the filters. The first three years, at over 300,000 miles I pulled the filters and it was still only pulling 10 inHG. I guess this is one of those gauges that sure won't be much fun to watch! Maybe after three or four years, the needle will move. Hmmm, wonder if I should send the gauge up north once a year to Sickly for a workout?
