Today got my BHAF shield and filter mounted made by Jason Boesl , Great job Jason. I am a freak for gauges, so thought I would put in a vacuum gauge on the air filter. This does the same job as the stock filterminder, but with a gauge on the dash, you have a constant reading how much vacuum is being created. After it was all done I hit the highway and at 38 lbs of boost, the air cleaner gauge didn't even think about moving. Wasn't too surprised, but the more I thought about it, I got to wondering just how efficent these BHAF air cleaners are. Experiment! I blocked off a little more than 50 percent of the air cleaner and hit the road again. Now we're getting some where! I could actualy see the needle move at max boost! Of course it wouldn't get up to 1 in. of vacuum though. So it seems to me, for my truck, the BHAF is capable of delivering twice as much air as required. Of course it is new and will only get more restricted as it gets dirty. The only thing I have to compare this to, is my big truck. A new word here, Insane Big Honkin Air Filter, and two of them. They are over two feet tall and twice the diameter of our little ones. So the big truck will pull 10 inHG on a hard pull at 35 lbs. of boost. When it gets to 20 inHG, its time to change the filters. The first three years, at over 300,000 miles I pulled the filters and it was still only pulling 10 inHG. I guess this is one of those gauges that sure won't be much fun to watch! Maybe after three or four years, the needle will move. Hmmm, wonder if I should send the gauge up north once a year to Sickly for a workout?

Michael, that's interesting. I mounted my stock filteminder in the end of my BHAF that's been on since last July, and can pull it down all the way when using full fuel, pulling about anykind of load. Empty, it'll pull down to about 80%.

The filter still looks fine, but may be showing a restriction from all the gravel roads I drive.

moparguy, I'm surprised to hear you can pull the BHAF down at all. Have you had the filter minder on since installing the BHAF? You can't really tell if a filter is clogged by looking at it, dirty ones can be fine and clean ones plugged.

moparguy, I kept checking my filterminder with the K&N filter in the stock airbox that hadn't been cleaned for about a year and it never moved. Of course this experiment is with a new filter and I would be suprised if it would show much on the gauge.

Joe: yes, sorry about that, I shouldn't have said anything about vacuum. It is a inhg gauge.

Illflem, I installed the filterminder several weeks ago. Wish I had installed it when new. I put it in about the same time as the

3K GSK.

M Barnett, I drilled about a 3/4" hole (check the hole in the stock airbox for exact size) in the center of the black plastic end of the filter. The plastic is about 3/8ths inch thick. After forcing the end of the filterminder into the hole, and tightening the compression nut, I then used black silicon to form a bead around things (on the outside of the filter) to both act as a adheasive and sealer.

The little vaccume gauge is now mounted horizontally, rather than vertical, but I don't think it cares.

AZ,

Big White Beast has the directions here.

Someplace there is a picture of it also. If you're still in CO let me know, I'll show you mine. It is a real easy instal.

Scott-

I'm still here up in the sky with you. . :)

I should make the RMTDR event next weekend. Might be a little late, but should make it... you gonna be there?

Az,

No, can't make it. That's the day I get marred.

We were going to do the wedding at the dyno, but the florist couldn't get in early enough, so we will just stick with the church. :p

Let me know if you need a drill bit for the filter minder. You can use mine.
