IM wanting to istall my fp quage and maybe do a little plumbing work in the fuel system while Im at it. I was wondering what do I need to make up braided hoses? What do you use to cut them? How do you know what size the hose and fittings are as in american or metric sizes? Do I need special tools to work with this stuff?

Just a word of caution: the braided covering does not allow the hose to expand under pressure. That's fine for most of the lines, but the one running to the fuel pressure sensor could stand to be plain rubber like Geno's 18" hose. the expantion of the hose helps reduce the pulsing on the sending unit resulting in better life expectancy.
 
Do yourself a favor and use push-lok fittings and hose, braided lines are a pain to work with and expensive, although the push-lok isn't cheap either!!

You can use the Geno's "Grease Gun" hose on the FP gauge connected to the schrader valve on the fuel pump-easiest way to do it. The banjo fittings on the stock fuel system are 12mm/1. 5 thread. You can get adapters from that to -6 AN from Summitt. Most of your aftermarket fuel systems (FASS, Air Dog) for these things use -6 AN hose. They make a special cutter for stainless hose, it's expensive, most guys use a hacksaw or a die grinder/cutting wheel to cut them. On the race car we use stainless on any lines exposed to debris, all others are push-lok. :D

I have lots of braided stainless on my fuel system. I used it mainly for its strength and being almost 'rub proof'. I tried the method suggested by the hose manufacture... . installing two hack saw blades... one backwards... . made a mess out of things. The best I found was the 'ole die grinder and a cut off wheel... . just make sure you tightly wrap a couple layers of electric tape around the hose first. Makes a real clean job!!! I used Earl's perform-o-flex hose.
 
We just completed the install of the FP gauge on my brothers truck and all I can say is that the braided hose is a pain. If you can manage to get a clean cut then it is not so bad but if you don't it is not fun. I would use some other type of hose for the ease of install, unless you are going for the show truck look and need more looks. Just my 2 cents after a first time with the braided hose.
