I've never used it but it was written up in an older TDR mag with before and after decibel readings. Seemed to work good but is mighty expendsive.

It looks like a quality kit, and despite the price, still looks like you get a lot. Sound proof, oil proof, temp resistant stuff is not cheap. Where they put the insulation is the same location as semi trucks, so i believe the sound deadening will be noticable. Forget their claim on efficiency, that's bogus. It will hold heat longer and make the block heater more effective, and take longer to cool down, maybe warm up a little faster, and send more heat load to the radiator, none of which should be a problem.

somthing else to think about

In FL it is not a problem but those oil pan blanket hole more than just noise, they also hold water and salt and oil if you get any leaks can be a big mess to try to get clean. The only engines I have seen pan blankets on were CAT 3406's w/alum oil pan and the 60 series w/fiber/plastic oil pan. Maybe do to corrosion of steel pans? Or these engine made more noise than others?

I have seen and heard the ATP company's demo truck. It is very quiet. If a quiet truck is your goal this package will be a good way to start down that path. High tech materials should hold up well.

They have been used by the US Navy for years.

ATP Wrap

Hello John,

Last year, I drove down to ATP and had them install their kit on my truck. I didn't purchase the hood blanket, since my truck already had an OEM unit. Coming back home, it was noticeably quieter inside the truck. It was much better outside, as well. The blankets do a good job of lowering the higher frequency engine noise. I would have to say the blankets don't cut the noise in half, however they do make a noticeable change.

It took two of their experienced people a couple hours to install the blankets, which are secured to the engine with stainless steel safety wire. I had to remove mine last week before taking my truck to the dealer to have a new short block installed and I can attest that it was a pretty tough job :)) Since I was able to remove them, I am pretty sure I will be able to re-install them ( I hope). Otherwise, I'll make another trip to LA and have them re-installed :)

I have not had any problems with moisture under the pan cover, due to the way it is installed, and to give you an idea of the insulation factor of these blankets, you can lay your hand on the outside of the turbo cover, when the EGT gauge reads 600 degs and you will not get burned!

If I had it do again, I would still install the blankets.

Good Luck,

Frank Dz

I put the oil pan cover on last year . It is a high quality product , not that much fun toinstall down there , though .

Quited the outside noise down a bit.
