Just opened my Comcast mail account to find this waiting for me:
Dear PhotoIsland Member,
Over the last several years it has been our pleasure to provide you with
exceptional photo sharing services. On Nov. 22, 2004 however, the PhotoIsland
website will be shutting down for good. On that date, all photo sharing accounts
will be deleted. If you currently have photos in your PhotoIsland account,
please visit the site now to download them to your PC’s hard drive.
In order to make the process of downloading photos from your account quick and
easy, we are providing a download applet for you to use. After you log in to
your account, click the “Manage Photos” link on the left navigation bar then
click “Download all photos”. At that time, the applet will pop up on your screen
and guide you through the downloading process.
If you have difficultly downloading your photos, please contact us at
-- email address removed -- and we will be happy to help you with the
process.
Sincerely,
PhotoIsland Member Services
This is like the third or foruth time I've had this happen since I've had acces to a digital camera and started participating on various internet message boards. Can anyone out there recommend a good FREE image hosting service? Make that one that is also not all defensive and CHICKEN ***** when it comes to remote linking???
Looks as though such a thing is appears to be going the way of the dodo bird.
#@$%! :{
