I want to thank all the members here for all the info that helped me buy my new truck...
theres good and bad...
the bad...
I wont be visiting the 6. 7 forum that much
the good
I will be visiting the 3rd gen forum. . alot
The story. . some of you might find some mild interest in it
Remember when I said sometimes you dont end up with the truck you started with. . well in my case it certainly applied
I went bidding for an 07 C and C to my specs
What I came away was a 06 2500HD crewcab with my specs for 29,500... plus a jake brake added on. .
Heres the story
At the end of the week it was going hot and heavy as the dealers submitted me bids. All in all I probably talked to 10 dealers around the US... . and I experienced the entire gambit of the new car sales game...
I did a followup with my local dealer, Crown Motors, in Redding as they were high bidder and I wanted to know why. In meeting with them I also said I would be remiss if I didnt check out their leftover stock of 5. 9's... just in case something was close that meeted my specs. I did, and still do, have to concerns over first year technology echoed and illuminated by some of you. It was sober advice
I did find a truck on the front line at Crown that seemed to meet my needs. I had beeen dealing with the fleet manager, 19 years selling cars. I pointed to the vehicle... he looked over his shoulder at it. . looked at his computer. . and quoted me a price... I said Id buy it. . and had 10k in my hand...
A comedy of errors ensued, their finance people were in a staff meeting, the fleet guy had other customers, etc etc. . and so off I went off the lot telling them to take my money and they didnt (when does that EVER happen in a car buying experience. . a highly qualified a rated customer with cash walking off the lot because the salesman wasnt ready?)... Hours later I got a call stating that he had made a mistake and the truck I had pointed to wasnt the one he quoted me on. . and the one he had quoted wasnt on the lot and had been sold ... but I was a good loyal customer (yea right. . I dont know them from adam)... there was one more in face meeting between us. . and lets just say it didnt go well. . (interesting what promises a pocket tape recorder picks up)
Anyway, suffice it to say, all the salesman speak that was ever invented was used on me...
Remember if it doesnt feel right WALK AWAY with your dollars
Crown Motors... . sleazy at worst. . unprofessional at best
