My truck is 03 with the jacobs brake which means I am stuck forever with the 3. 5" elbow/brake off the turbo. Would it help or make any sense at all, as far as EGT's, to go with a bigger exhaust (currently str8piped) ? I was thinking that as long as there is some portion of my exhaust at 3. 5" it would not help for it to flare out into a bigger exhaust

If I'm not mistaken, Joe Donnelly, quite a while ago, stated that unless you are going into the high horsepower world, there is no real advantage to a full 4" system. Besides, I think the back of the turbo is still approx. 3-1/2". I did an AFE Proguard-7 system and installed a 20' Magnaflow muff. right after the down pipe with 4" back. On a recent trip back east with my 7000# trailer, I never saw EGT's higher than slightly over 1100 deg. , pre turbo. I've read on the TDR, many times, that doing an air intake system and a free flowing exhaust system should drop your exhaust temps. by 150-200 degs. I think that is true. Hope this helps. Joe.
