OK, I am convinced that I will lower the EGT with 4" exhaust... How about how loudness?? What muffler setup do I need to keep it somewhat quiet and not defeat the whole purpose of a freeflow system. I really don't want the "Drone" or any loudness problems... just lower EGT.
Most aftermarket diesel mufflers are straight through with little pockets that interupt sound waves like a glass pack does but do not decrease flow. I'd say either get on e-bay and find one (I did and I'm very happy with it, $250 shipped to my door) or contack Rip Rook, many people have been happy with his exhaust.
My Rip's 4" system is loud outside (sounds great), but with the windows up, the cab is quiet and there is no drone at any speed. Rip has some instructions on muffler location to prevent drone. I did install the muffler on mine, and a 5" tip.
Give us a call we have aluminized, 409 and 304 systems that have 100% welded hangers that slip right back into the stock rubber mounts. No clamp on hangers to rust and look non OEM. We also have duals in all the materials if you have a 4x4 truck as an option. Our mufflers are packed with a ceramic blanket and stainless steel wool to keep the sound level close to stock and eliminate the drone you mentioned etc. Call us if you have any questions.
I love my Rip's exhaust! Never a bit of drone and a great sound outside. Inside, I can hear the turbo more than the exhaust, and my setup is really quite. I have the diamond eye muff and a 5" tip out back.
