I read this on Cnn Algae: 'The ultimate in renewable energy' - CNN.com

Seems like a good answer. I have read lately derogatory information about Grain based biofuels. I thought they had a new enzyme to make alcohol out of garbage, but, I have not heard much about it.

Look at the yields and it seems like it has promise.

I'm surprised this idea hasn't gone farther. The University of New Hampshire did a study similar to the US Government's and concluded that 50,000 acres of algae could sustain a good portion of the US diesel supply. Not to mention a good used of wastewater from US cities to feed the algae. I think there is enough open space SOMEWHERE to set up some sort of bio-energy algae farm and refinery.

What?

If we used algae how would big oil get there cut so they can boast multi-billion dollar profits? Where will Senators and Congressmen get their pockets lined from then?

If you're inclined to do pretty good plug of reading about Algae Biodiesel try BioDieselNow - Renewable biodiesel fuel then near top of website home page is link to a Algae Biodiesel forum.

Fair number of posters seem well grounded on science end of issues as they put up pro/con give and take exchanges of working thru future of algae bio-diesel production.
