Here's the story.

A few weeks ago, the Check Engine light came on. The truck ran perfectly with no evident problems. The next day, the check engine light was off. After aprox. another 500 miles, the light came on again.

Today while ideling at a red light, the engine just died. After trying to start her a few times, I resigned myself that I needed a tow. Right after I called for a tow truck I tried to start her one more time and she fired right up with no problems. At that point, I figured that since I was about 5 miles away from the local Dodge dealer, I'd bring her right over to get this Check engine light looked into.

They won't be able to look at the truck until tomorrow. Any ideas what it could be????

Without knowing knowing what the trouble codes are, it could be lots of things. See if the dealer will write down what codes they pull from the truck that made the light go on.

Crank Shaft Position Sensor

Dealer just called stating that the only code showing was a bad Crank Shaft Position Sensor.

Dealer cost for the part and labor is $300. 00. After doing a search on the sensor, Ive seen that they can be bought form Cummins for about $75. 00. Sure wish I had a code reader so I could do these repairs on my own and save some cash!!!!
