Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Another cracked 53

Ok I was stupid, I thought I had a bad head gasket but it turned out to be a cracked block. Yelling and screaming and a little sobbing ended last night. Now I gotta make a choice. $$$ is always at the top of my list but I want durability and reliability. My trailer is pretty heavy and it works the truck pretty good. My options are as follows.



1) try to repair the crack, with my luck it will fail

2) Install a short block with my old parts

Problems that can happen I may get jammed for the core if it is a rebuilt

3) Find a used motor(not a 53 this time)



Anybody got any suggestions

Before you get to "second page status", try your local wrecker for used salvage. There is another option if that fails. Try http://www.hoeslidiesel.com he was a help when I needed a LP.
