I'm a newbie; so , some of my questions - well, maybe questionably appropriate for the sight?
Bromiley99, can you share both your progress pictures and Costs? Been looking for a 05, NV5600, 4X4 2500 or SRW 3500.
Your approach on buying a nice body and rebuilding the mechanicals sounds compelling. At my age, 75, I would have a experienced diesel guy do the heavy work and I'd do what I can. Thanks for the early pictures. The long block is too pretty to put to work!

Well my initial intention was to sell this vehicle when I finished, that went out the window I ended up spending waaay more than I thought. I'd like to say before I begin my part list a whole bunch of this was not absolutely necessary.

Machine shop: $3,900
includes
Motor was bored 0.5mm (0.020"), full engine rebuild kit Mahle, cam an lifters ground, replacement head, new valve springs, crankshaft an connecting rod inspection.

After I got that done I didn't like the way my camshaft turned out, ended up going with a colt cam stage 3($600), new lifters ($170), BBI reman stage 1 injectors ($2,400), heavy duty laminated flex plate ($275), MADS smarty touch ($850), ARP head stud kit ($450), AFE stainless steel exhaust manifold ($610), fluidampr ($435), MBRP exhaust system ($445), fuel rail with sensor an relief valve ($360), 6 injection lines rail to head ($30 each), crossover tubes ($300), cp3 reman ($700), fass fuel pump ($600), water pump ($160), engine oil cooler ($80), GDP additional 2 micron fuel filter ($260)

Think I covered most of the stuff I did to the motor but I've turned this into a full rebuild of the entire vehicle including dynatrac ball joints, synergy steering upgrade ect. Bradford built flatbed just got on yesterday. I've drove out my driveway a couple times runs AWESOME just a few more little things morning an I should be able to drive it to lunch finally lol, hauled it home November 15.

Turbo Re-source in AZ rebuilds the stock turbo but they tweak it a little bit. They add the turbine wheel from the VGT on the 6.7s. It's a bit larger and flows more air. It maintains quick spoolup and low smoke too. They can also add a billet compressor wheel that is a bit lighter and spools a bit quicker. AH64ID has a modded turbo on his dad's truck.

Bromiley99,

I hope you don't mind my stealing a few of the frontal engine pictures for another thread.....your pictures show the alternate set of holes for the non-A/C tensioner set-up that's been like hunting for the holy grail...

Mike.

Ya know now that mention it, I remember reading that thread. I'll look back into it thanks!!

That's a nice build. If you have a stock turbo, might I suggest a "add a turbo" twins kit such as the ATS I run. The hp limit in you engine will likely be the CP3 if it flows stock, but that's good to around 500hp.
