Hello, I'm new here so please excuse my newbie questions, but can someone tell me how loud the turbo is supose to sound inside the vehicle with the windows rolled up? The reason I ask is because when I first got my truck ( a used 1995 5. 9 liter ram 3500) The turbo noise was quite loud kinda like the noise you hear in a jet though not as loud. Now I can barley hear it. Which is normal?

The ''loudest'' part of my stock turbo is the whistle . There is also a bit of a '' moan '' at RPM above 1600 when you are pulling a load or a hill. [ I know, hills are hard to find in Kansas]

If you want to hear it better , look for silencer ring on the search feature. Removing the silencer ring has no effect on performance of your truck, but some guys remove it to hear the turbo better.

I can't imagine why your turbo would change in volume. I know that in hot weather the fan clutch locks up and produces a roaring sound sort of like a jet plane.
