Thanks, TDR Staff

PRXB took a dump 18 months/17,000 miles

Fueling box with no timing... Blue Chip or TST or ?

How did they break? Under what conditions?

Powerbrake?

Shifting?

Going into lockup?

Sled pull?

Drag Race?

5000 rpm neutral drop? :) Just kidding.

I'll bet there aren't very many people that know their way around under the hood like Adam does. Talk about HP R&D :cool:

What kind of HP/Torque #'s is breaking these Adam?

For those who find themselves in need of replacing the flexplate and are not going with an aftermarket design go to the Cummins dealer. Purchased there they are 1/3 the price of the dealer!

Man I thought people forgot about those days, I've seen speed O's go from 0-60 in flash in other people's cars;)

well the first one went on the way home from the first pull, let me tell you it did not get abused there with my poor showing, but it did get just a couple of 95psi blasts then leaving a stoplight maintaing under 1300 degrees(around 70psi) it let go with a terrible racket.

mondays adventure was after I took Pius for a ride with a couple/few hi po blasts to test out our newest version second stage turbo. It works great and is called the WSB (wicked some *itch). Both Pius and I think it will set the new standard for under 450hp, towing and racing turbo. It has a p/r of nearly 60psi boys!!!!!!!!!! with an unbelievable spoolup. Basically think of a turbo bigger than a hx40, spools like a stocker and can take 55psi all day long. :--)

anyhow later that night I was rescuing another truck from a neigboring city and half way back it let go pulling a hill. :{

I have hope I've been promised a proto type hd flexplate very soon from BD to go along with the next generation of tc to be thuroly tested in my truck:D

oh ya I dynod at 625 and change on the motor before some rescent changes. :-{}

Like Drag Diesel said,, the problem has been solved,, but it will be a little bit. If you have a broken flexplate now, you may have to replace it at Cummins.

There is a permanent fix soon,,, just give us a little time...

From the Suncoast site: Laminated Flex plate for high horsepower (Applications doubles plate strength @ crank drive area. ) The price is $412.

I'd like to hear if anyone has tried one, I'm thinking about it when I upgrade my trans soon.

We put a Suncoast laminated plate or Double plate in ours... don't have a pic, but it is holding, even with sled pulling on it. 4-5 pulls on it about 475-500hp. Much better unit than the stocker... time will tell.

Side note, not to start a transmission war, but seems that after we broke ours and talking with others the breakage might be linked to some brands of aftermarket TC's. I think so myself after seeing the difference between lockup on some vs others. Some just hit harder on Lockup. Lockup surge by some TC's stresses the plate to break. Just MHO... .
