Are Cummins owners dog or cat people.

I thought this was really interesting considering the source. What do you think?

Ok guys... I was talking to a friend of mine today. he is a salesman at a Ford dealership. . What he had to say causes me great concern and I want to see if others here agree. . I told him I had been trying to decide to keep my truck or get rid of it and his responce was that I should dump it and get this he told me to get a dodge!!!! I was shocked to say the least!! He said he would love to make the money on the sale but since he was my friend he would not blow smoke up my butt. . They had a managers meeting and the managment conveyed to them that anyone trying to trade a 6. 0 from here on was gonna take it in the butt... aparently with the 6. 4 on the way in they feel the market for a 6. 0 is gonna flop basically the 6. 0 is a flop and this is one of the reasons for the 6. 4 is they are wanting away from the bad reputaion the 6. 0 has made. . He told me to go get a dodge and stay away from the ford for a couple years till the 6. 4 proves itself but by all means that I should dump my 6. 0 quick cause they are a no sale in the future... . Do you all agree with this? Oh and he also said the rumour ford f250 will get a cummins is totally false that international navistar has a contract till 2012

I read through that thread, boy do I feel really good about buying my Dodge now... Oo. Oo. Oo.

LOT'S of :{ :{ :{ :{ and :-{} :-{} :-{}

I believe it, a good buddy of mine is a grading contractor, owns alot of equipment & trucks & is a long time Ford guy. He has had more problems with his 6. 0 than any other truck he has ever owned, several injector problems, puter problems, oil leaks... He is seriously considering switching to Dodge.

I remember the Ford guys being all excited about how great the 6. 0 was going to be before it came out. What make them think the 6. 4 will be any better?

if you read the latest issue of DieselPower you would think the Powerstroke was all fixed and the leader of the pack..... I could not believe they gave it such a sanitized review... . they did mention there were a few "issues" and the engine was redesigned and changed 3 times as 7. 3 before being made into 6. 0 and then went on to insenuate the 6. 0 fixed all the problems and was the engine to get... . LOL

Later in mag they talk about the tests done where dodge hired third party to do towing tests with the big three diesel manufacturers all pulling 11000 pounds in timed runs from stop, from 10mph, 40mph pass, and 6% grade through elevation changes... .

Cummins beat them all... :-laf

This is my favorite reply in that thread. 5 Ford diesels with "nothing but good luck... " But doesn't his signature say different? If so, what's this "good luck" BS?

I've had Fords all my life. 5 different diesel and nothing but good luck. I rode in an 05 Dodge the other day with a friend. He has 70K miles on it and it rode better, was quieter and gets a hell of a lot better mileage than my 6. 0... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .

I love how someone always says "the problems are not widespread; it's just that on the message boards we hear more from owners with problems". They're still sticking to that story despite the recent bad press about widespread malfunctions. Ford itself has admitted publicly that the engine has been very problematic.

Ford's 6. 0 widespread problems started the end of 03 when they started installing them. I bought the 6. 9 in 83 and am still running a 95 7. 3 and 97 7. 3 and would of bought an 04 7. 3. The 6. 0 scarred me away and I bought my first Dodge.

My buddies 04 6. 0 is on it's 2nd ECM and 2nd reflash of that ECM. Our 04 Ambulance 6. 0 is also on it's 2nd ECM and it's 2nd reflash it it as well. Problem? No, I don;t see any problem..... Can you say Lemon Law? I know plenty of 7. 3's that are still chuggin away,as my 12 valve is, but I don't see the 6. 0's as a long term thing. Anybody wanna buy a 350 chevy diesel... lol :-laf "Have you driven around a Ford lately?"

I agree, im glad i have both my dodge's, but i would rather opt for a 6. 2 over that new 6. 0ford anyday... No wonder Ford is laying off 25000 employees and 5000 white collar jobs and numerous plant closings, I do know that i read yesterday on reuters that daimlerchrysler is laying off one fifth of their white collar but are not laying anyone else off, that is those that really do the work and need the money(the guys on the line) maybe daimlerchrysler is just being cautious and we all know that GM is on thin ice and could break at anytime.

Been there done that, got the $9K hole in my butt to prove it! (former '00 7. 3PSD equiped Excursion owner) yeah, I had good luck with it. If were to consider myself a sadist who enjoys being stranded TWICE due to a CPS failure. Found On Road Dead? You betcha, i was!

I'm back where I intend to stay. Enough said.

I will say I am a former 6. 0 Owner, had a 2004 with 32K miles in under 2 years when I sold it. It OVERALL wasnt too bad, the truck itself was excellent. I did however have it for service about 5 times in that time period all engine related which I found unacceptable and therefore before the 36K was up, led to its demise.

In that time I owned it it went in for a reflash to cure surging idle, 3 Oil leaks (minor stains on bellhousing, but non the less) 2 Recalls for EBPV, EGR and wire harness chaffing, New turbo, and a leaking battery.

Never left me walking, Never failed to start in 0° weather unplugged, But just the stories out there and the first 2 years made me come to my senses and offload it before it became a problem. Who Knows, The guy who bought it from me may drive it till 150K without another dam thing wrong with it, But as for me im not a gambling man.

Jim

Problems not widespread with the 6. 0? Is that why Ford claimed a $500 million warranty expense on the engines? Just curious.

Me Too!

I feel so relieved!! Earlier this month I traded my 04 King Ranch F350 6. 0 Power Joke in on an 06 3500 Mega Cab. I never liked the Ford but needed a true Crew Cab for my large family. The Ford left me stranded once and was recalled by the factory 3 times in only 20k miles. The only positive note on the Ford was the 5 speed automatic transmission and factory trans temp guage. I had been warned by a friend who is a Ford executive to get rid of the truck as soon as I could because of the upcoming bad press the 6. 0 was about to receive. My local Ford dealer usually has 2-3 Super Duty trucks on their back lot than have been repurchsed under our state lemon laws. NOT a good sign!!My new Mega Cab gets just as good mileage and is much more manueverable.

I feel like the Dodge dealer gave me a great trade in and will end up taking a bath on the Ford. I am looking forward to making some performance upgrades after the warranty period expires.

There's two guys here at work that park side by side in their brand new 06 Furds 6. 0's. The other day they where out in the parking lot with their hoods up looking at the engine bay and I couldn't help myself... I pulled up and said already? There not even a month old... I looked down at my OD and said "107,what ever" miles on mine and still no probelms. "If looks could kill" I parked and sat there to let the turbo cool down and hoped out and beeped my alarm and I could see out of the cornor of my eye they where still staring me down. (LOL)

It's great to have a little fun at Fords expense but truth be told I feel a little sorry for some of these people who are taking a bath because they bought a Ford. If you are not a mechanic and don't understand what can go wrong with these machines, and you buy because you like the interior, ride, etc. , you are getting hosed to the tune of many thousands of dollars! Most can not afford to throw that kind of money down the drain. It's like the GM fiasco years ago when it cost you dearly if you tried to trade in one of there junk engines!!

As a side note about Ford, I read in dealer magazine that Ford is loosing over 500 master mechanics a year. Partly because they won't let them fix things.
